Responding to the Homeless Crisis in Lubbock

It has been almost a year that I joined the staff of Family Promise as a Volunteer Coordinator.  My experiences have helped me to develop a deeper understanding of the ongoing struggles and challenges that our homeless families face.  I have discovered that homelessness continues to be an overwhelming major crisis in our society.  Family Promise has responded to this crisis by providing temporary shelter and offering solutions to problems which our homeless families encounter every day. Our families are able to remain together, thanks to the Family Promise program and the efforts of caring individuals from the community.

It’s so simple to make a difference in the lives of the families!  In providing an evening meal, volunteering a few hours of your time or by simply showing Basic Kindness and compassion will enable families to regain self-sufficiency.  Every day I witness our volunteers selflessly giving of their time, talent and treasure.  The self-confidence and empowerment that our families receive from these simple acts of kindness helps to transform their lives. At Family Promise, we rejoice every time a family graduates our program and we eagerly await the next miracle of hope.
