Mentoring:We know that all families face challenges, and for families who have experienced homelessness, it can be crucial to continue getting the support that helped them while in the program. The tremendous support families receive while they are in the program is why Family Promise is so successful. Continuing those relationships after they graduate is important for families’ long-term sustainable independence. Family Mentoring is one way to accomplish that.
Get your Church Involved: Join our network of churches. Members will assist with meal preparations, overnight stays, cleanup, and weekend work, planning fun activities, projects, transportation and much more! Volunteers are needed in the office for administrative work, special projects, sorting and storage of donations, fundraising and solicitation of daily necessities such as detergent and disposable diapers as well as collections of household items used to help families to set up housekeeping when they move out.
Volunteers find many ways of supporting families in their efforts to become independant; however, their most important service is most often "just being there" to lend a compassionate ear and help the families through one of the most difficult times of their lives - homelessness.
