Our Story

Lubbock Interfaith Hospitality Network, a nonprofit, non-denominational, volunteer-based organization, opened its doors in the fall of 1998 to homeless families with children. In early 2006 Lubbock Interfaith Hospitality Network changed its name to Family Promise of Lubbock. This name consisted of simple words that delivered a powerful message of hope.

We are now one of 200 Family Promise affiliates operating in 42 states; linked by membership to the National Family Promise in Summit, NJ.

Hope House Tribute

Historic Benson Residence, The Hope House

Historic Benson Residence, The Hope House

After many years serving families experiencing homelessness it was apparent that the ministry needed more space. Both administratively and for the program. The Hope House was donated to Family Promise by the City of Lubbock and moved from the North Overton redevelopment area to 1511 Ave M.  The Hope House became just that, a house where families could gather to feel safe and rebuild their lives. Families overcoming homelessness spent their days at the Hope House seeking out employment, building new connections, and restoring their hope.

Built in 1909, the Hope House is the third oldest house in the City of Lubbock, and is one of the only significant Victorian Houses presently located in Lubbock.

In 2024 the decision was made to sell the Hope House in an effort to seek out a bigger facility that can host the annual holiday events for the graduate families of Family Promise of Lubbock. We celebrate the impact of the Hope House and all that it represented for Family Promise of Lubbock.
